Morton's Neuroma

Understanding Morton's Neuroma: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment Options

A neuroma is an enlarged, benign growth of nerves, most commonly developing between the third and fourth toes. This condition forms a thickening of tissues around the nerve, typically in response to irritation from poorly fitting shoes, high-heeled footwear, narrow toe boxes, trauma, or abnormal bone structure. Patients often experience symptoms including sensations of thickness, burning, numbness, tingling, pain in the ball of the foot, or numbness in the toes.

Treatment Approaches We Offer:

Conservative Treatments: Most cases respond well to non-surgical approaches, including wearing roomier, lower-heeled footwear, custom foot orthotics (which may be covered by some insurance plans), and corticosteroid injections to reduce swelling and inflammation. These treatments effectively resolve pain and prevent progression of the condition.

Surgical Options: When conservative treatments don't provide sufficient relief, surgical removal of the neuroma may be necessary to eliminate pain and restore normal foot function. Our team will work with you to determine the best treatment plan.
