After receiving his podiatric medical degree, DPM (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine) from the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, in 1995, he then went on to complete a 24 month post graduate training program in Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Mechanik further advanced his skills when he completed another 24 month fellowship surgical training program in Lower Extremity Musculoskeletal Surgery, under orthopedic surgeon, James A. Ghadially, MD (deceased).  During his fellowship, Dr. Mechanik worked side by side with Dr. Ghadially, where he tackled the most complex and challenging foot and ankle conditions and surgeries.

Dr. Mechanik is dual board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is board certified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Mechanik is one of the few podiatrist  in the United States with his extensive training. Dr. Mechanik is highly qualified to see and treat any ailment or condition patients may suffer from in their foot and or ankle. Dr. Mechanik treats both adult and pediatric foot and ankle conditions.

Colorado Foot Institute and Dr. Mechanik’s practice is exclusively limited to treating conditions of the foot and ankle. Because Dr. Mechanik personally sees and follows all his patients care from start to finish, he is able to closely monitor his patient’s progression to recovery. Dr. Mechanik and his staff strive to exceed patient expectations and to provide an overall seamless experience!

Dr. Frederick S. Mechanik is a Colorado Native, and excited to join the team at the Colorado Foot Institute, alongside his older sibling, Dr. Joseph E. Mechanik!

Dr. Frederick graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 1990, and pursued his Undergraduate studies at Metropolitan State College of Denver, University of Colorado at both Boulder and Denver Campuses and the Community College of Aurora.

In 1999, Dr. Frederick , received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Frederick went on to complete three years of Post Graduate training in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, an academic affiliate with the Weil School of Medicine, Cornell University.

Upon graduating from Residency in 2003, Dr. Frederick Mechanik went into private practice in Ridgewood, Brooklyn, Flushing, Queens, Mineola / Huntington, Long Island and Mamaroneck , Westchester County in New York. Dr. Frederick Mechanik became a member of the Podiatric teaching faculty at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, Flushing Hospital and New York Hospital of Queens from 2003 – 2005.

In the Spring of 2005, Dr. Frederick Mechanik, returned to Colorado, and provided Podiatric Services at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado from 2005 – 2020. To this day, Dr. Frederick Mechanik, considers, this time period, to be the highest honor of his professional career, in providing Podiatric care for Active Duty Soldiers, Dependents, Retirees’ and Veterans of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. While at Fort Carson, Dr. Frederick was instrumental in furthering Podiatric Education, as he served as the Southern Coordinator for Podiatric Residency training for the Eastern Colorado Podiatric Residency Program (Denver VA) from 2008 - 2013, and Director of Podiatric Education for the Physicians’ Assistant Training program from 2005 – 2017. Dr. Mechanik was presented with being the Operating Room, “Doctor of Cycle” on multiple occasions, and was he was named, The Medical Preceptor of the Year in the Spring of 2010, after being voted upon by the graduating Physician Assistant Students.

Dr. Frederick Mechanik is dual board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, in Foot Surgery, and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. In 2018, Dr. Mechanik obtained Fellowship in Peripheral Nerve Surgery, from the Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons.

At the present time, Dr. Frederick Mechanik is Region 2 President of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and an On-Site Podiatric Residency Review Committee Member, for both the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. From 2007 – 2016 Dr. Frederick Mechanik served the Colorado Foot and Ankle Society and represented the American Podiatric Medical Association in multiple roles and by serving on multiple committees, both on the State and National Levels.

Dr. Mechanik enjoys going to the gym for cardiovascular exercise, playing squash, traveling, studying U.S. History and Economics, playing with his dog Max, and cheering for the Broncos, Avalanche, Nuggets, Rockies, CU Buffaloes and Cherry Creek High School Bruins.
